Thread: Cleaning glass behind louvers

How do you clean the glass underneath?

The last time I cleaned these I gave the windows a cleaning from top to bottom. The way that I did it was to first use a Swiffer duster and dust the top and underside of the louvers. Then starting at the top I would use a spray foam window cleaner and spray it between 4 or 5 louvers. I use one surgical-towels.html">huck to get the majority of the foam off and a second dry one to detail. I try to wipe the foam overspray off the louvers quickly because I'm not sure the finish could take any prolonged dwelling. When I'm done with the glass I will use the wet huck to spot clean any fingerprints on the louvers, then a quick hit with dry huck. The next couple of times you should only have to dust the louvers and spot clean the fingerprints on the glass. They usually range from toddler height to teen height. It's quicker to spot clean if you have someone inside to point them out. If you do them solo you could use those tiny sticky pads to mark them so you don't have to keep on going in and out. Oh and if your allergic to cologne and crappy techno music have fun! If you have any questions let me know.

This was exactly the method I had in mind. How long does it take you?

2 of the stores have 48 panes and 36 louvers.

Those sound Huge. What are you considering a pane? We sub it from a Jan/san and we are not required to do the interiors or doors(the A&F employees do them). In the attached picture I would call that 3 panes(not including doors) and 3 sets of louvers. Most of ours have between 6 and 12 like the pictured ones except they have a transom up above that is louvered as well. The smaller ones can be done in a half hour, the larger ones in 50 minutes to an hour. The times were twice as long the first few times when we wet and wiped each individual louver, then we started using the swiffer duster. Make sure you have plenty of replacements.

If you've seen Paul Blart Mall Cop (I haven't so it may not be in the movie) they filmed that at a mall where we do the A&F and that one takes 40-45 minutes

I'm being told I have to clean all glass in and out and louvers.

There are 2 pretty good sized stores, as I previously described.

Ok the insides can be a pain in the A$$ just because of the displays of overpriced clothes. I know around here they have cleaners there early so you may be able to start around 6 am. I'd knock the inside out first. Then I'd tackle the outside. First time I think your probably looking at 4 hours. Good luck.
