Welcome to the biz Ryan, some very good advice, especially what I read from Michael Mole. Remember, always seek good help from others but be your own man and you will be fine.

    Hey Ryan

I'm starting out as well and was glad to see your post. I'm 21 too, living at home going back to college. I'm hoping this is a way to stop working for "The Man" and put some extra cash in my hand for once.
I figure we will be going through a lot of the same problems/struggles while starting up so hopefully we can help each other out with any advice. Otherwise I feel most everything I need to know is hidden in these forums somewhere.
Anyways best of luck man and holler if you need anything!

Hey Cody, thanks and same to you man. I couldn't have said it better; it'll be nice having someone in the same boat to relate to. Next week is my spring break, so I'm looking forward to making some real progress on business cards/buying equipment/making a customer list/etc. I've been researching basic equipment to see which brands are best to start out with, but im finding that everyone has their own opinion...so I'm planning on just buying some stuff that looks decent and over time I'll figure out what brands/styles work best. I get the feeling that, whether I like it or not, TRIAL AND ERROR is gonna be my go-to plan during this first year lol although hopfully by gleaning from this forum, I can work to reduce some of those errors.

And likewise, hit me up if you need anything!

I hope that's true Phil. I recently started debating whether or not I should have started off by working underneath someone but I've got my first job this weekend so I feel it's too late now. I kind of like the idea that I'll get to experience all my problems hands-on and learn how to overcome them. I am sad school doesn't teach kids anything like this because I admit I am worried but very excited at the same time. I think it's something everyone should at least try and if it doesn't work i'll go back to washing cars haha

Let it be known, I would be honored to work with any one of you guys or gals on here.

    -Cody
