    Default Application Form

    Direct Mail Posts2
I'm getting ready to put out a craig'slist ad for an employee and as part of the "sifting process" I want the potential employees to have to fill out an online application (also makes it easier to have access to employee info in the future). Anyhow, I just learned a lot about php and just built this page. But I have a Mac and even though it looks good in my browser(s), I want to run it past a few PC browsers to make sure that this new coding doesn't do something crazy on the PC.

You can even feel free to fill the form out if you want... I might even hire you

Although I didn't fill out the form, it looks fine in AT&T Yahoo! browser ver. 5.04.02.409.

This is what it looks like using firefox. 1200 x 600 resolution. Not sure if that's the way you had it set up, but it looks outta whack to me.

Do you receive an e-mail alerting you that someone has applied? Is the info sent to you or does it go to a database? I'm currently trying to put something together for my site (that's taking forever to build). Would you mind if I took a look at your code? I'm also learning php and could use a little bit of help.

Yeah, it comes in the form of an email, but it also saves in an online database. The email is really plain and it takes a lot of cutting and pasting to put into a useable form, for example:

    Firstname: Curt

    Lastname: Kempton

Address: 951 W. Fruit Tree Ln

    City: Queen Creek

    Zip: 85243

    Phone: (480) 246-2920

    Email: curt@5starwindowcare.com

    Citizen: yes

    Felony: no

    (you get the idea)

but if you save all of those emails in a certain folder it serves as a killer rolodex.

Sure, get me your email and I'll send you a few txt files.

It's functioning perfectly... but I agree the aesthetic could use help. I actually did it that way to keep the page shorter, but since it's just an application for employee prospects, I'm thinking I'll be okay with sacrificing the aesthetics as long as everything is there and stays on the screen. Do you think sacraficing the look makes it too confusing to where I might ultimately pay a price with people properly filling it out or possibly just giving up all together when they see the "messy" page?

Yeah practicality is the number 1 priority. But it wouldn't be too difficult to change the look either. I can play around with it if you want when I get home from work today. Just line a few things up and what not. Just let me know.

Of course I'd be willing to let you spruce it up. Sounds like a winning proposition to me!
